Quasi-Governmental Entities and Agencies

Definition

A quasi-governmental entity is a body created or sponsored by government that operates with some independence from it, such as a government corporation, a government-sponsored enterprise or a state or local public authority; the label has no single legal definition. Federal law sorts federal government corporations into wholly owned and mixed-ownership corporations and lets an agency establish or acquire a corporation only under a law specifically authorizing it.[1]

Federal law

A market and contract term. No Act of Congress defines it; the federal laws below apply as described.

L. 97-258, § 1, 96 Stat. 877.
